Over the past two weeks, our FCNE players proudly represented our club while competing against teams from around the globe, exploring Denmark and Sweden, and experiencing cultures, traditions, and opportunities that extend far beyond the game.
This trip would not have been possible without the amazing support of our players, families, coaches, tour guides, and our incredible partners in both Copenhagen and Sweden. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and behind-the-scenes work helped create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Group stage play is officially complete, and FCNE has plenty to celebrate. Competing against clubs from around the world, our players continued to showcase their talent, determination, and teamwork throughout the final day of pool play. The results speak for themselves, with seven of our nine teams earning a place in the prestigious A Playoff bracket—an incredible accomplishment at one of the world's largest youth soccer tournaments. Every match challenged our athletes to grow, compete, and represent FCNE with pride, and now the focus shifts to the knockout rounds where every game is an opportunity to continue this unforgettable journey.

Beyond the results, the true highlight was seeing our teams come together—supporting one another on the field, cheering from the sidelines, and creating the kind of memories that make international tournaments so special.

FCNE Opens Gothia Cup 2026 with an Outstanding First Day
Gothia Cup 2026 is officially underway, and FCNE made an impressive statement on opening day. Our boys and girls teams took the field against clubs from around the world, showcasing determination, teamwork, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the first round of group stage play. The day was highlighted by five victories and two hard-fought draws, with every team gaining valuable experience while proudly representing FCNE on one of the biggest stages in youth soccer.
As if the day couldn't get any better, FCNE was also honored to be selected as the team to represent the United States during the spectacular Gothia Cup Opening Ceremonies at Ullevi Stadium. Marching into the stadium carrying the American flag in front of thousands of spectators and fellow athletes from around the world was an unforgettable experience and a tremendous honor for our players, coaches, and families. Surrounded by music, lights, and the incredible energy of teams representing dozens of countries, it was a powerful reminder that this trip is about much more than soccer—it's about building lifelong memories while representing something bigger than ourselves.

The journey reached an exciting new chapter as our FCNE players, coaches, and families departed Copenhagen and arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden, the home of the world's largest and most prestigious youth soccer tournament. Before leaving Denmark, the entire FCNE group gathered for a team photo, capturing a memorable moment before crossing into Sweden. After a scenic drive through the Danish and Swedish countryside, everyone arrived in Gothenburg, checked into their hotels, and began soaking in the incredible atmosphere as thousands of players from around the world arrived for Gothia Cup 2026. With the Opening Ceremonies and tournament matches just around the corner, the excitement continues to build for what promises to be an unforgettable week of international soccer, new friendships, and lifelong memories.

Another exciting day in Denmark saw our FCNE boys and girls teams continue their preparation for Gothia Cup with a second round of friendly matches against local clubs. The results spoke for themselves, with impressive performances across nearly every age group as players continued to build chemistry, confidence, and momentum heading into tournament play. Off the field, the adventure continued as players experienced some of Copenhagen's most memorable attractions, including an evening at the world-famous Tivoli Gardens and time relaxing and swimming at the Harbour Bath just outside our hotel. Combining elite international soccer with unforgettable cultural experiences is what makes an FCNE tour a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that extends far beyond the game.

Throughout the day, players represented FCNE with outstanding effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork while creating memories with teammates and opponents from around the world. The day concluded with a traditional BBQ, where players, coaches, families, and members of local football clubs came together to relax, share stories from the matches, and continue building friendships that will last well beyond the tournament. FCNE Players Arrive in Copenhagen and Begin the Gothia Cup 2026 Journey
Players from across the U.S. came together in Copenhagen to officially kick off the FCNE Gothia Cup 2026 experience. After traveling from every corner of the United States, players arrived ready to begin their international adventure, meet their new teammates, and prepare for the tournament ahead.
The group’s first training session took place under beautiful sunshine on immaculate grass fields at the practice facility. Players used the session to shake off the travel, reconnect with the game, and begin building chemistry with teammates from across the FCNE community. The journey has officially begun, and the excitement for Gothia Cup 2026 is already building.

FCNE Closes Out Gothia Cup with Pride & Power
What a final chapter it’s been. Our G17 girls finished as runners-up in the prestigious Puma Cup, falling just short in a hard-fought 0–1 final after a week of dominant performances. These players came together in record time and competed at the highest level with heart and humility. Over in the B16 division, FCNE battled bravely in their semi-final, ultimately falling 2–1 in a competitive showdown that showcased their skill and resilience. As we say goodbye to Gothenburg and head back to Copenhagen, we do so with full hearts and a lasting sense of pride in what this group has achieved together.

FCNE Rolls Into Friday With 5 Teams Still in Contention!
The Gothia Cup journey is getting more thrilling by the day! FCNE showed up strong today, with five teams advancing deeper into the tournament. G12 and G16 are into the Quarterfinals, G13 heads to the Semifinal, and B16 is pushing forward in the Last 16. G17 continues their Puma Cup run and plays in tonight’s Semi Final at the iconic SKF Arena. With so much on the line, we encourage all families and players to come together to cheer each other on—it’s what makes this experience unforgettable.

Gothia Cup 2024 - Day 9
Impressive Day 3 of Knockout Rounds
FCNE had an impressive Day 3 of knockout rounds at the Gothia Cup. The knockout rounds are unique, as teams often play multiple games in the same day. This was the case for several of our 4 teams that advanced rounds. As the tournament progresses, the stakes feel much bigger, and the pressure higher. Our teams showed resilience and determination, refusing to be phased. By the end of Friday, our remaining four teams had been knocked out, with several games going to penalties.
Farewell, Sweden!
Today, we head back to Copenhagen for our last night together. It's been an incredible journey, filled with unforgettable moments and proud achievements. So long, Sweden! We leave with our heads held high, knowing we've given it our all.

Dedicated Local Guides
While in Gothenburg, each FCNE team is assigned a dedicated guide. These guides are locals of Gothenburg who have usually played in the Gothia Cup themselves, either with or against FCNE. They provide invaluable information, including food recommendations, sightseeing suggestions, directions, and transportation instructions. FCNE is the only club in the Gothia Cup that offers this unique resource to their teams. Having these guides ensures that everyone experiences the very best of what Gothenburg has to offer.

Group play started today with a bang, despite the rain making for a soggy start. An impressive 10 out of 11 FCNE teams won their first game of group play. While there's still plenty of group play left, all teams are now focusing on their next opponents, determined to advance further in the tournament.

Weathering the Storm: A Day of Indoor Activities
Today's activities took an unexpected turn as what is being described as 'a once in 100 years rain storm' descended on Copenhagen. With the torrential downpour keeping everyone indoors, our teams adapted quickly by moving their practices to an indoor facility. Despite the weather, the players maintained their high spirits and enthusiasm, making the most of the excellent indoor training environment.

The rainy day also provided the perfect opportunity for Media Day. Most of our teams participated in fun and engaging photo sessions, capturing the essence and energy of FCNE.
